Summer Investiture
August 28 - 30th, 2009 - Summerland, BC
Strong the winds of Tir Righ blow, calling one and all to the Shire of Danescombe. Let all who dare, come witness the ending of an era! Foron this August day shall the eternal reign of Raknar Stormbringer and Chiara Firebright draw at lastto a close and the reign ofUlfgar II and Renee II begin.
Come witness also the choosing of the newest Scourge of Tir Righ, defender of the Winds and Lands of Tir Righ. The best and bravest fighters of our Principality will gather, and strive for the right to represent their Principality, and our new Prince and Princess. Come, watch the feats of strength and skill as the clashing of the swords of Tir Righ herald our new Champion.
In addition to the tournament to determine the Scourge of Tir Righ, the event will also host archery competitions, rapier tournaments, a bardic circle, and many other activities to amuse and entertain the populace.
Merchants will also be welcome at this event! We all know that there's no better way to entice people to come to an event, than to promise them really great shopping!! But we just can't do that without the help of the fabulous merchants of Tir Righ!
As head of the Autocrat Team, I'd like to extend a personal invitation to all the merchants of Tir Righ, to come, bring your goods, display your wares, and show the people of our Principality just what treasures they are lucky enough to have access to. We won't charge you a monetary fee to set up shop - we feel your presence adds to the ambiance of any event, and as such, should be encouraged! However, a donation to the Principality Largess would be very appropriate, and greatly appreciated.Think of it as a chance to promote just what wonders you have to share with the populace.
Thomas of Appledore has generously offered to help coordinate the merchants at this event. Please contact him in advance of the event with any space requirements you have, so that he can reserve you a spot on merchant row. Site Information
Site opens: 3:00pm Friday, August 28.
Site closes: 4:00pm Sunday, August 30.
Site Fee (adults – aged 19+): $18.00.
Site Fee(youth, ages 13-18): $12.00.
Site Fee (children, age 12 and under): free
Family Site FeeCap (two adults, and two or more youth of the same family):$60.00.
There will be no day fee.
A non-member surcharge applies to all adults age 19 and older who are not SCA members, and will be charged at the gate.

The site has no potable water. Danescombe will provide a limited amount of drinking water, but please help alleviate stress on this limited resource by providing your own as much as possible.
Directions to the site:
Make your best way to Summerland, BC.
From the South: Travel north on Hwy 97, and turn left at the first set of lights, onto Prairie Valley road (at the MacDonald’s, top of the hill). At Rosedale Ave, turn left to stay on Prairie Valley road.
From the North: Travel south on Hwy 97, and turn right at the first set of lights onto Rosedale Ave. Follow Rosedale until it runs into Prairie Valley Road.
Then…
Follow Prairie Valley road through town, and just past Rutherford Ave., turn right onto Doherty Ave. Take the first left onto Princeton-Summerland road, and then take the first right to stay on Princeton-Summerland. Follow Princeton-Summerland road, keeping left at the Y junction with Henry road, and right at the Y junction with Dean road. Continue up the grade, about 4 km. At the first driveway at the bottom of the hill, turn left and follow the gravel drive in across the bridge. There will be signs to mark the turns.
