APRIL CORONET

Venue: Outdoor/camping
Date: 2nd weekend in April, unless it falls on Easter, then the previous weekend.
Championship(s): Bardic (Skald of Tir Righ).
This is a general list of required amenities as well as some suggested/optional amenities.
Please note that all measurements listed are just a basic rule of thumb and should be
discussed and verified with the appropriate officer or deputy officer.
Basic Facilities
| Camping Area | Minimum camping for 150. (More will be required in more population-dense parts of Principality. e.g. Seagirt approx. 300, Lions Gate approx. 400). Include space for a Royal encampment - check with the Head of Retinue or the Royal Camp Master for dimensions needed. |
| Bardic Venue | Sheltered or indoors. Check with current Champion for specific requirements. |
| Washrooms | Flush toilets or port-a-potties (preferably with sanitation stations). Minimum of 1 toilet facility per 50 people per day. (if portable toilet not serviced daily then multiply number needed by number of days for the event, i.e. 50 people expected then you need 1 toilet x 2 days = 2 toilets total needed) Also if portable toilets, 1 in every 3 or 4 toilets needs to be wheelchair accessible. |
| Parking | 1 vehicle space per 2 expected people. VIP parking should be blocked off (or marked clearly) and reserved i.e. royal, staff, servicing. |
| Potable Water | Potable water must be available. If the site has no potable water, some method for distributing potable water must be arranged (i.e. a water truck or tank.) It is acceptable to announce that potable water is limited on site and to request that attendees bring their own water, but there still needs to be potable water provided. |
List Field Amenities
| Heavy Tournament Field | 4 fields, suggested size of 30' x 30' each; 20' corridor down center; 15' - 20' wide border corridor around all sides. List field ropes and stanchions may need to be provided or borrowed by hosting branch. NOTE: Febrary 23, 2006 - Meistari DungadR Ravensfuri, An Tir Earl Marshal, announced immediate changes to the An Tir Book of Combat: "At all kingdom level events the erics shall be a minimum of 25' X 25' with a minimum of a 5' buffer on all sides. If the eric is a minimum of 30' X 30' there is no need for a 5' buffer. Any passage way between erics shall be a minimum of 15'." |
| Royal Pavilion | Space for a Royal pavilion (may need to be provided/borrowed by hosting branch) to accommodate Royal viewing, court, peerage meetings and curia. (Verify availability of royal chairs with senior retinue staff. Hosting branch may need to provide alternative, if not available.) Include table for retinue/awards. Royal pavilion should be set up directly facing corridor in list fields. |
| Lists / Marshal’s Pavilion | Should be immediately across list fields and facing Royal pavilion. (May need to be provided/borrowed by hosting branch.) Include table(s) and chairs. |
| Herald’s Point | Sheltered space, tables and chairs provided for voice heralds (town-crier and tournament). Optional space may be provided for consulting heralds but should be separate from voice heralds. If personnel available, town crier senior staff should be separate from tourney herald senior staff. Usually set up beside Lists. |
| Waterbearing | Area required for water-bearing (equipment and staff may be provided or borrowed). May be combined with lists, marshals, or heralds if space available. |
Other Required Amenities
| Merchant Venue | Space provided for merchants. Traditionally around the list field, but not required. |
| Gate | Shelter including table(s) and minimum of 2 chairs. |
| First Aid Station | Depending on site configuration, may be located at Gate (ease of locating) or on list fields. Accessibility to list fields must be maintained. Equipment may co-locate with other amenities, i.e. does not need shelter or table of its own. |
Optional Amenities
| Feast Facilities | Feast optional (at autocrat’s discretion). If planning a feast, need kitchen facilities and indoor seating area that can accommodate 60 - 100 people. |
| Meeting Shelters | Upon request, and if possible, alternate facilities should be provided for other meetings not included in Royal pavilion above (i.e. guild meetings). Need not be on list fields. If alternate space not possible, ask person requesting meeting space if they have, or know of, someone who would be willing to host the meeting in their pavilion or shelter. |
| Scribal Area | If at all possible, provide a fairly private area for Royal Scribes to be working on scrolls. At outdoor events, this needs to either be indoors or in a pavilion or shelter that is warm, dry, and not in the wind. |
| Shower Facilities | Really, really nice to have. Appreciated by those partaking in combat activities. Most especially appreciated by those who share tent or bed space with those partaking in combat activities. |
| Archery Range | If the site has the space to set up an archery range, it’s always nice to be able to offer this activity at your event. The Principality archery marshal or someone within the archery community may want to run a prize tournament. |
| Period Encampment | A camping area blocked off for period (or period-looking) pavilions only. Usually near center of activities to enhance ambience. |
Typical Meetings and Activities (other than Coronet and Championships)
| Peerage Meetings | Meetings of the Pelicans, Laurels, and Chivalry. Usually scheduled Saturday morning before opening Court/investiture of the lists; usually (but not required to be) held in the Royal pavilion. Scheduling of all peerage meetings is at the approval of the Coronet. If possible, the meetings should be rotated so that one group does not consistently have the 8 or 9 am meeting. (Example: if the last schedule was Pelican, 9:00 am, Laurel, 10 am, Chivalry 11 am, then the meetings should rotate so that Chivalry is at 9:00, Pelican at 10:00 and Laurel at 11:00). However, consider what is going on at the same time as the peerage meetings. If an A&S Competition is happening at 9:30 am, a Laurel meeting at 10:00 am is probably a bad idea. Same goes for the Chivalry meeting. If there's an armoured combat tournament happening, the knights who are fighting need time to get into armour and get to the list field in time for armour inspection. |
| Curia | Principality business meeting, with the attendance of the Coronets, Principality officers, and any interested populace. Usually held on Sunday morning, and usually (but not required to be) held in the Royal pavilion. |
| Squire’s Tournament | Usually held Sunday morning. |
| Rapier Tournament | Usually held early Saturday morning before investiture of the Coronet Tourney lists. |
