Ksenia Einarsdottir

Third Princess of Tir Righ

In battle ravaged Kiev, a woman struggles to bring life forward from her womb. As the girl child breathes her first breath, the woman smiles to herself and breathes no more. A man, sitting in the shadows, stands to leave. He pauses to look back on the woman of whom he begot this child and nods to himself as if making a decision. He speculates that he may live to regret today’s actions; after all, his wife may not wish another mouth to feed at this time. The baby begins to fuss; he scrubs at his beard impatiently. He must make a decision to leave her here with her dead mother or make arrangements to take her with him. As she begins to squall he leans down and scoops her up in his black and red striped cloak. He cradles her with the ease of the experienced and she sinks into slumber. He sighs, looking down upon the sleeping babe and smiles; she will need a wet nurse he decides, and she shall be called Ksenia…for her mother. As Thane Einar leaves the room he hopes Thora has misplaced her rolling pin, perhaps it would be best to send word ahead he muses.

Apprenticed at an early age to Master Cathal Sean O’Connaulin, Ksenia’s earliest memories are of Seagirt, where she studied weaving, calligraphy, embroidery, beading, dance, lace making, scroll design and rapier combat. She held offices, taught Ithra, sang with Daffodil consort, painted scrolls and autocratted many events. A Grant of arms was bestowed upon her for service. As the years passed, Master Cathal decided it was time Ksenia leave the nest and she became apprenticed to Mistress Amanda Kendal of Westmoreland.

Eventually Ksenia’s path led her to Sir Kheron Azov and she re-located to Lions Gate to wed him. She served Einar and Thora during their reign as Prince and Princess Tir Righ and attended the coronet tournament in April where Sir Kheron Azov fought for her favor and made her ban-Tanist of Tir Righ. She will be invested at his side in June.

Mundanely, Ksenia is known as Maile Bertrand who spends most of her free time with her husband and children, reading or renovating her new home.
